A CHORUS LINE, THE ODD COUPLE and More Set for Seacoast Repertory Theatre's 25th Anniversary Season

Seacoast-Repertory-Theatre-Announces-25-Anniversary-2013-Season-20010101

Seacoast Repertory Theatre announces its 25th Anniversary 2013 Season. After another record breaking year of performances, attendance and contributions The Rep continues to delight audiences of all ages. Given the life expectancy of a new theatre is only 5 years, Seacoast Repertory Theatre has made that mark, in strides, and as of 2013 The Rep celebrates its 25th year as the Seacoast's largest year round professional live theatre. The Rep is a gathering place for actors, musicians, fellow non-profits, and performance artists from all over the country. The success of The Rep is made possible through the generosity of its members, sponsors and patrons. Seacoast Repertory Theatre is proud to announce its 2013 Mainstage lineup.

A Chorus Line
March 1 - March 24
Music by Marvin Hamlisch
Lyrics by Edward Kleban
Book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante

The Rep welcomes back the world's "longest line". One of the most definitive musicals in theatre history, a Pulitzer Prize winner and recipient of countless theatre and Tony Awards, A Chorus Line follows the lives of a line of hopeful Broadway dancers, auditioning for a show they all need desperately. But the catch is they aren't just singing and dancing, they are telling their individual stories of what brought them to the stage. Still as relevant and poignant as it was almost 40 years ago, this high energy, all singing, all dancing, high drama musical is a gem. With memorable songs like "One", "At the Ballet" and "What I Did for Love" and directed by the Broadway revival's own Bryan Knowlton, A Chorus Line is sure to be "One Singular Sensation..."

Rounding Third
April 5 - April 28
By Richard Dresser

A baseball lover's dream! This quick witted and often hilarious play, puts the audience in the dugout and lets them interact with the two little league coaches that tell the story. The constant battle of "are we playing for fun or playing to win" is explored in this off-beat and heartwarming play. A not-to-be missed nostalgic look into the way of the game and all the curve balls life throws at us.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
June 7 - July 13
Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Book by Hugh Wheeler
Based on an adaptation by Christopher Bond

Stephen Sondheim's dark, mysterious and uniquely beautiful musical comes to life at The Rep. Set in 19th century London, an unjustly exiled barber named Sweeney Todd returns to seek revenge. Along the way he meets the twisted Mrs. Lovett and the two join forces to bolster Mrs. Lovett's meat pie business and Sweeney's need for vengeance, razor by razor... What ensues is a dark comedy with brilliant music and lyrics. One of Sondheim's best! Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and countless other awards and nominations.

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown
July 19 - August 24
Music and Lyrics by Clark Gesner
Book by John Gordon
Based on Charles M. Schulz's comic strip Peanuts

Family-friendly entertainment at its finest! Follow Charlie Brown and the whole gang in this cherished classic musical. With toe-tapping, memorable music, this sweet adaptation brings the Sunday morning comics to life onstage. You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown offers a unique look at friendship, the importance of being kind, and the philosophies of childhood. An excellent choice for the young and young at heart!

Six Nights*
September 20 - September 29
By Lowell Williams

In the spring of 1965, Jonathan Daniels, a twenty-six year old seminary student from Keene, New Hampshire, embarked on a journey that would change not just his life, but the lives of many, from all over the United States. Six Nights tells the story of the last few days of this journey. It's a compelling narrative of drama and music about how to scrape together the courage to face the insurmountable and it will make you think about how one person can make a difference. Jonathan's determination was a testimony to those who witnessed it, and it will be one for you, too.
