EXHIBITION begins with a career-encompassing collection of the works of Edouard Manet from the Royal Academy of Arts, London.
Pontine Theatre Premieres THE COMMON HEART, 4/27
by BWW News Desk (New Hampshire)(4/8/2013) - 26 April - 12 May, 2013, Pontine Theatre premieres The Common Heart: A Transcendental Revue, at their West End Studio Theatre, 959 Islington St, Portsmouth NH. This work explores the legacy of the New England Transcendental Movement. Drawing on works by Emerson, Hawthorne, Thoreau, and other denizens of Concord MA during the 1830's and 40's. Performances are Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 4pm, and Sundays at 2pm. There is an additional 8pm performance scheduled for Saturday 27 April. The Capitol Center for the Arts Welcomes Chris Mann, 5/15
by BWW News Desk (New Hampshire)(4/3/2013) - Chris Mann, the classically based pop vocalist and 2012 finalist on NBC's "The Voice," will perform atThe Capitol Center for the Arts on Wednesday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m. Mann is touring in support of this first album, "Roads," (October 2012), which shot to #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. His PBS special, "A Mann for All Seasons," aired locally on Public Television in March and featured Martina McBride and jazz saxophonist Mindi Abair. The special was a re-creation of the Elvis Presley '69 Comeback Special with Mann performing in a boxing ring on a Sony soundstage. Tickets start at $28 and are on sale now.

After the smashing success of PAPA's (Portsmouth Academy of Performing Arts) collaboration with the Rep's Adult Resident Company's production of Winnie The Pooh A Christmas Tale, director Miles Burns felt as though he should continue the tradition of combining youth apprentices with seasoned adult actors to put on a youth production. James and The Giant Peach was an "obvious choice" says Burns "The story lends itself to the adult actors being able to portray many different roles, and to have some fun while doing it. And it allows the youth company to work with adult actors they look up to and 'step up their game'. The combination is a winning match."

Bryan Knowlton to Helm Seacoast Repertory Theatre's A CHORUS LINE

This multiple Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical is being directed and choreographed by Bryan Knowlton, a Portsmouth native who grew up on The Rep stage and went on to perform in the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line. With that kind of talent The Rep's 2013 Mainstage season opener is sure to be the hottest ticket in town. "I went onto college, toured the country in three first nationals (Broadway tours), got my equity card and landed a starring role on Broadway" says Knowlton. "But, it was here at The Rep, through my teachers, friends and mentors that I found the love for theatre."
